Earlier in July, we placed ESHK over in a wonderful unit on Charlotte Street in Shoreditch so we’re catching up with founder Meg Liu on how she and her partner Fernando Lopez have been over the last few months.
How did you modify your business during lockdown?
My partner Fernando and I were doing bits and bobs to make the salons cleaner and nicer, and we have done all the preparations to make sure our customers and our people are in a safe environment.
Have you reopened yet, and if so, how has it been going?
After weeks of lockdown, it really was our time to shine. It’s been wonderful yet hectic at times but our teams are handling things very well. All our clients are being very respectful and understanding, nothing to complain about!
Did you discover any new parts of London in the last few months?
Not really. Having 3 young kids, we were in strict lockdown, I only discovered we have a brand new sky without much air traffic.
Lockdown was hard for everyone, but some good came out of it too. Was anything in particular good for you?
Definitely good on my side. I switched myself off from working and gave all my attentions to my family. Government’s grant and support have helped us greatly. Having said that, not being able to see my family in Hong Kong made me a little sad, but the new technology did bring us a little closer.
